A few years ago, we renamed the company Vancouver Casting and started doing workshops and seminars for all the new people starting out in the commercial industry. My friend who was in wardrobe knew that Murdine was looking for an assistant we met, she brought me on board, and it’s been an incredible ride together. The stress of always knowing I could be called to set to deal with a medical emergency while making sushi always loomed in the background, and it just became a bit too taxing for this older gal! It was better suited to someone young and eager, so I sold the business and started looking for my next work adventure. It was a physically demanding job with incredibly long hours. I had been working for ten years as craft service on set. Unlike Murdine, I landed in the casting world more by serendipity than intention. WHAT WAS YOUR JOURNEY TO BECOMING A CASTING DIRECTOR?
